Biography

Kathie leads on Skills and Careers development for the UK Space Agency, working with partners across the sector, in industry, academia and government, and also leads the People, Skills and Culture Workstream for the Space Growth Partnership. She has an Earth observation background and has worked in industry, academia and now government.  The reach of space (and its’ data) is so broad that it covers areas far beyond launching high tech pieces of kit, influencing all of our daily lives. She is passionate about ensuring that the space sector is welcoming and truly inclusive.

Kathie was a founder of the Geological Remote Sensing Group and is a Fellow and past Chair of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society, and member of Women in Aerospace. In 2008 she was awarded the Founder’s Medal for Services to the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society and was awarded the British Interplanetary Society’s Arthur C Clarke award for her skills development work in 2017.
